The Treasury Department (Treasury) announcement of eligibility guidelines for the Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). Under HAMP, the servicers (your bank) apply a uniform loan modification process to provide eligible borrowers with sustainable monthly payments for their first lien mortgage loans. If you, the borrower falls out of a HAMP modification you may benefit from an alternative that could help you transition to more affordable housing and avoid the stigma of a foreclosure.
